TOM DIXON

Tom Dixon occupies a distinctive position in contemporary British design. Beginning as a self-taught maker of welded steel furniture, he has evolved into an internationally influential designer whose work spans furniture, lighting, interiors and product design. His integration of industrial manufacturing with expressive material exploration has helped redefine British contemporary furniture for a global audience. While lighting has become his most commercially successful field, furniture remains the foundation of his creative identity, and his interior projects demonstrate how bespoke furnishings, lighting and architecture can be combined into immersive, cohesive environments.

In 2001 Tom was awarded an OBE for his services to British Design – promoted to a CBE in 2025.
